Frequently Asked Questions About the Online Master’s Programs at Georgetown University

Does this program involve any on-campus residencies? 
There are no required on-campus residencies. However, online students are welcome to visit campus for any events of interest such as employment fairs, conferences, and in-person career services.

Do I need to have a bachelor’s degree or higher to apply?
Yes, you must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university to apply to the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies online programs.

What is the GPA requirement for admission to these online programs at Georgetown University?
The admissions process is multifaceted; while we look for a 3.0 or higher in relative coursework, we take a holistic approach to the review process which includes your undergraduate major, school, and relevant academic and professional experiences.

What is the academic accreditation of Georgetown University’s MPS online programs?
All programs offered by Georgetown are accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and all graduate programs, including the Master of Professional Studies, have been approved by the Graduate School at Georgetown.

Will my degree specify it was an online program?
No, the degree awarded will be for an MPS with no designation of program modality.

Do I have to take the GRE or GMAT?
Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies does not require the GRE or GMAT scores.

Do you offer financial aid? 
Yes. You may receive information on loans and other financial assistance by contacting the Office of Student Financial Services. To determine your eligibility, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and SCS Supplemental Form. Financial aid is not available for international students.

What resources are available for online students?
All resources available to on-ground SCS students are also available to online students. Some of those services include: Academic Resource Center, Counseling & Psychiatric Services, Digital Media Center, GOCard Office, Library, Office of Academic Affairs & Compliance, Office of Student Financial Services, Registrar, Veterans’ Services, and Writing Center.

Are these online programs available to residents in all states? 
Georgetown University is able to offer the online format to residents of all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Georgetown University does not currently accept applications or enrollment requests for online programs from non-U.S. citizens who are residents of the following countries: 

Canada (Exception: Online format is available for Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec) 
North Korea 
Ukraine (Crimea Region)
